Fiona the Baby Hippo one of the most beloved attractions in the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical garden. This is because she is one of the few prematurely born hippos ever to be hand raised in the zoo. And ever since her birth, she has gained fans in children and adults alike. She has become quite the internet phenomenon.
And now her fame spreads even farther as the Zoo’s director Thane Maynard Plans to write a children’s book with Fiona as the main protagonist! This children’s book will show how Baby Fiona came to be. It will chronicle how her parents came together and the journey of her birth. The Children’s book will be titled Saving Fiona: Science, Social Media, and the Story of a Baby Hippo. It will be released on Jan 22, 2019. Just in time for Fiona’s second birthday.
A portion of the proceeds from the book will be donated to the zoo. And money raised from this and other products related to the book and Fiona has been used for her care. Maynard also said that the main intent of this book is to get people of all ages to be interested and involved in wildlife and conservation.
The book is aimed at young kids and is meant to help them gain a love for reading. It is filled with endearing pictures that will capture the imaginations of its young readers. And seeing as Fiona is an internet sensation with millions of likes and views on her social media pages, a lot of kids will have surely heard of her story and want to know about her.
