Tips on how to start your Writing right in 2017!

The year 2017 is here and excitement is definitely in the air!  And why not? The New Year has always signified a fresh new start in life and on every endeavor. You can look back on the past year and look at the good times with fondness and learn from the bad. The same thing can be said for writing. As a writer you’re forte will always be writing and your main objective will always be to improve as a writer. But how can you improve as a writer? What should you do to be even better than last year and achieve your writing goals this year? Here are some great tips on how to start 2017 right as a writer.

You are a writer and your passion will always be writing. Which is why as early as January 1st you should already have a set of goals that you want to achieve. What do you want to do this year? What do you want to write about? Why do you want to write about it? These are just some of the questions you should ask yourself before you start. Write these objectives down and post them in front of your desk. That way anytime that you feel your resolve waver, you can always look to these goals and be reminded why you started in the first place.

This project can be anything from a journal to a whole book. It really depends on you. Just be sure that you can complete it and you are passionate about it. Remember that this project is yours and that the reason why you started on it is because it means a lot to you. And because of this then any hardship is bearable through the writing process.

When you start your writing project, make sure that you write about something that you are passionate about. You should also write about something that you have expert knowledge in. That way you will not only be interested in your writing project you can also give interesting facts that will add more texture to your work.

One of the hardest things about writing a book is that it is a very immersive and time-consuming process. And because of this, a good number of writers fail to finish their respective books. It could be a number of reasons. It could be writer’s block, they are going through a personal crisis etc. But most of the time it could be as simple as not having enough time or not being able to fit the writing process into their schedules. But it does not need to end like this. If you really want to achieve your writing goals be prepared to put in the time. The best advice would be to make a writing schedule for yourself. Pick a time that you are usually available and stick to it. The time really depends on you. You could work in the morning before work or late at night, it does not really matter just as long as you are comfortable with the time and you can continue with the writing project till the end.

When you get started on the process, you soon find out that it takes a lot of time. Which may cause you to feel anxious at the amount of work involved. You might feel as if there so little time to finish your work. This may even prompt you to overdo it or rush the process. This is a big mistake because you will most burn yourself out. When you are writing remind yourself that it is your passion, that you are doing it for yourself.  Don’t be in so much hurry to finish your book. Enjoy the journey, remember you have an entire year to enjoy it.
