Great Tips on Writing Your Own Novel within 4 Weeks!

If you are a serious writer it is to be expected that you would want to write a novel of your very own. But oftentimes something holds you back from following up on it. You have the idea for your book, and you have the writing skills to pull it off.

But something holds you back. It could be nerves or a deep-seated fear of failure. Whatever it is though, this apprehension stops you from fulfilling your dream of becoming an author. In truth, the only thing that is stopping you from achieving your writing dreams is you yourself. If you focus all your abilities in the writing process you can even write your novel within just 4 weeks. It won’t be easy of course but it is possible.

Make an overall plan

Before you start on your 4-week foray into the writing process, you should have a foolproof plan to follow. Think of yourself as a football player that is given an overall game plan. This should include any expected setbacks that may come your way. That way you can be prepared to tackle them all, without skipping a beat.

Make a schedule that you should religiously follow every day. This allows you to live your life and yet reach your writing goals every day. Decide whether you should write every day or on designated days. In many ways, it all depends on you and how you want to do It. Just remember to follow the plan to the letter.

It is also important that you plot out every aspect of your book’s plot and characters. Try to make your characters as fundamental to the story as possible. This will prevent you from making haphazard character changes that may disrupt you in the future.

Have a word count

Before you start on your novel you should know your end goal. How many words is your novel going to be? 150,000 words? 200,000 words? When you are making a word count for your novel, you should be as realistic as possible. That way you can have an approximate estimate of how much words you need to write in a day. Just be sure to follow this word count and never lag behind on your expected word count. Because any setbacks will really disrupt the writing process.

Find ways to push yourself

One of the best ways to motivate yourself in the writing process is to put something on the line. One way of doing this is to make yourself accountable for your work. Post tidbits of your work on your blog and advertise through social media that you are writing a book. This will have family and friends excited to read your book. This excitement and their expectations of your book will help you get motivated to write faster and better.

Double Time!

When it comes to having a writing deadline, writing a novel can get very intense and fast. So the name of the game really speeds. You need to be both fast and efficient when it comes to the writing process. Try to make as few mistakes as possible and stick to your overall writing plan. Stick to your word count every day and never skip out on your writing sessions. Just one skipped writing session can be detrimental to the entire writing process. All in all, though your greatest ally during the whole writing process is your belief in your abilities and the discipline to see the job done.
