Blogging You’ve written a book, surely, you can write a blog. They’re actually quite easy and fun to write. And there are also a lot of benefits in writing them especially if you’re a new author establishing his reputation. A blog is your best friend when it comes to promoting yourself and your work. It is one of your tools in modern day marketing.

Blogs are considered your personal websites that you maintain by posting entries regularly. They can be used as means for promoting a business, or just simply for transcribing personal interests. As an author, you can use your blog to update your followers about your latest books or your up and coming activities. Most people subscribe to blogs for the purpose of keeping up with the people they follow.

  1. Crowd Survey- Your blog readers will have a mutual interest or will more likely come from the same industry. This will give you the opportunity to simply ask them questions that can help you improve with your work. For example, you can as what type of stories do they read? Or what topics do they like most?
  2. Writing Practice- Like any type of writing, blogging requires a good amount of research. By constantly maintaining your blogs, you get to practice your writing skills, test out your creativity and even experiment with all types of writing styles.
  3. Crowd Communication- You can interact with your audience through your blog’s comment section or through email. Your blog will contain your contact information so your followers can easily connect with you.
  4. Trend Following – You’ll have to post relevant topics in your blog to keep your readers interested. This will require you to keep up with the latest news and trends. This is actually an advantage to your part.
  5. Popularity Boost- The more people visit your blog, the more it will improve its ranking in the search engine thus improving your discoverability. Your blog is a great way for people to discover you.
  6. Book Sales– Your audience can avail your books through your blog. Link your blog entries to Amazon or any online bookstore your book is available at. This way your followers won’t have a hard time ordering and pre-ordering copies of your book.
  7. Self-Marketing– As an author, you also have to sell yourself to your audience. Blogging personal entries from time to time will help your readers know more about you. You can use a casual tone in your entries to make it sound more sincere and convincing.
